Lab Leaders

Lab Leader

Dr. Anaís Delilah Roque Antonetty

Collaboratory Founder & Director (she/her/ella)

Environmental social scientist and anthropologist who studies how households and communities navigate food, water, and energy insecurity—especially in the face of disasters and climate-related hazards. Her research explores the impacts of these insecurities on health and well-being, and how responses at the household, community, and policy levels can either mitigate or deepen vulnerability. Dr. Roque specializes in mixed-methods and participatory approaches, including ethnography, photovoice, community-based research, and social network analysis. She leads interdisciplinary research across Puerto Rico, the U.S. Gulf Coast, and the U.S.–Mexico Borderlands, with a focus on environmental justice, resilience, and lived experiences in the Anthropocene. She is currently the John Hope Franklin Assistant Professor of Environmental Social Sciences at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment.

Lab Leader

Dr. Meskerem Z. Glegziabher

Research & Community Engagement Manager (she/her)

Cultural anthropologist and research operations leader with over a decade of experience advancing equity and community engagement through qualitative research and program development. As the Research & Community Engagement Manager for our lab, she ensures the smooth and efficient coordination of logistics, administration, and community partnerships across multiple ongoing projects in Puerto Rico. Her work at the lab supports both the operational backbone and community-centered vision of our research, ensuring that projects are thoughtfully managed, culturally responsive, and rooted in reciprocal collaboration.
